HOUSE OF MERCY ORPHANAGE
During our 2014 mission trip to Haiti, Bethesda Medical Mission became the sponsor of the House of Mercy Orphanage in Montrouis, Haiti, which was on the verge of eviction. Moved by the urgent need, we committed to covering their monthly rent and providing ongoing support for food and essential supplies.
Over the past decade, that commitment has continued. We funded a clean water system and completed critical structural renovations valued at over $25,000—helping to create a safer, healthier environment for the children.
Today, the need remains urgent. We are seeking continued donations to help sustain monthly rent, cover school fees, and provide for orphanage maintenance and daily operational support. Your generosity ensures these children have stability, education, and a safe place to call home.
MISSION TRIPS
BMM has been blessed to serve communities beyond our local borders.
HAITI
In response to the devastation of a Category 7 Earthquake in 2010, our mission volunteers traveled to Haiti five times between 2011–2017, providing free humanitarian services to more than 7,000 individuals. These efforts included medical and dental care, medications, eyeglasses, preventive services, food and construction support—meeting both immediate and long-term needs with compassion and care.
PUERTO RICO
In June 2018, our diverse team journeyed to Puerto Rico in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria, offering medical, dental, and construction services to help communities rebuild and recover.
BAHAMAS
In February 2024, we expanded our outreach to the island of Grand Bahama, where a dedicated team of 40 volunteers partnered with local organizations, community leaders, and government officials to provide education and medical services following the lasting effects of Hurricane Dorian—one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic. This mission reflected our continued commitment to standing alongside communities in times of crisis.
JAMAICA
Looking ahead, we are preparing for our next mission trip in June 2026 to Western Jamaica as we respond to the recent impact of Hurricane Melissa with medical, dental, and construction services. We remain committed to serving with open hearts and willing hands wherever the need arises.
Your Support Matters
These life-changing mission initiatives are made possible through the generosity of donors, partners, and friends who believe in this work. Continued financial support helps us purchase medical and dental supplies, transport equipment, and provide critical services to communities in need. We invite you to partner with us through your prayers and donations as we continue to bring hope, healing, and practical assistance to those we serve.
OUR LOCAL IMPACT
BMM is also deeply involved in the local community in the Greater Hartford Area and has actively participated in free medical, vision and dental screenings at numerous health fairs, recreational and community centers, schools, local churches and mosques. Through these outreach initiatives, BMM works to reduce health disparities and improve access to preventive care for underserved and vulnerable populations.
The free health services provided include blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol testing, Hemoglobin A1C, HIV Testing, health-age and lung-age assessments, vision screenings and comprehensive COVID-19 services.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, BMM played a critical role in community response efforts by organizing COVID-19 testing and screening events, providing education on prevention strategies and helping residents understand evolving public health guidelines. Volunteers distributed masks, sanitizers and educational materials in multiple languages to ensure information reached diverse communities. In addition to testing, BMM assisted community members with vaccine education and addressing vaccine hesitancy through culturally sensitive outreach and one-on-one counseling.
